Beekeeping that pays for itself 

A 1D1 Agricultural Appraisal or “Valuation” (often called an ‘Ag Exemption’) is actually not a tax exemption. A valuation is a special tax appraisal where land is assessed based on its capacity to produce and value for agricultural use, rather than its market value. Beekeeping is a recognized form of agriculture in Texas. We handle beekeeping services that allow our clients to qualify for a 1D1 agricultural tax valuation, which can greatly reduce their property tax burden at a rate much lower than residential or commercial.

The minimum land requirement in Texas is 5 acres and a maximum of 20 acres. This does not include land that has been valued under an owner’s Homestead Exemption, generally the house itself and the surrounding 0.5-1.5 acres. For larger properties, the portion used for beekeeping must be legally subdivided to 20 acres or less to qualify for our service.

Our service includes any and all bee handling. We deliver, manage, and harvest hives without our customers ever needing to touch the hives themselves. At our initial consultation, we will design an “apiary”, which is the location at which hives are housed, and a land management plan for our customers. Customers are responsible for the setting up of their apiary, but we take care of the rest.

Our understanding of and experience with the tax process is always available as a resource to our clients, however we are not certified to file tax paperwork for our clients. The final decision on your tax status rests solely with the CAD.

Yes. Our process revolves around what is kindest and best for the bees. We produce all of our own honey and wax from beehives in south and central Texas, and extract it ourselves. Honey is extracted, filtered, sterilized, and jarred, all by hand!

For those without experience with agriculture, beekeeping is oftentimes the best option for land owners. Most agricultural practices require large material investments such as equipment, feed, and fertilizer and may rapidly deplete the land. Beekeeping, on the other hand, requires much smaller investments, and the process itself is sustainable and even regenerative of the land. We remove the trial and error, making the process straightforward and easy for you.

We are always happy to come out and evaluate any existing beehives or swarms on a property. If we are able, we can manage or remove existing hives. Please note: We are professional beekeepers, not general contractors. We do not cover or perform any necessary property repairs after the removal is complete.

The process of urban sprawl sees natural habitats with native flowering plants destroyed and often replaced with concrete and grass. Providing plants on which bees can forage allows bees and other pollinators to survive in urban and suburban environments which can often be hostile to them.
